The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Accounting Alliance 2024 Academic Annual Conference and “New Quality Productive Forces and High-Quality Development of Accounting” Forum, hosted by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Accounting Alliance and co-organized by the Business School and the Accounting Research Center of the Macau University of Science and Technology was successfully held at the Hengqin International Science and Technology Innovation Center and Macau University of Science and Technology on November 29-30, 2024. This event was sponsored by Beijing Dongda Zhengbao Technology Co., Ltd. and Xiamen Wangzhongwang Software Co., Ltd. Focusing on theoretical innovation and practical application in accounting, finance, auditing, and management fields under the development goals of new quality productive forces. The forum attracted over 160 accounting scholars, industry experts, representatives of prestigious universities and institutions from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Accounting Alliance, universities in more than 10 provinces (cities) and regions beyond the Greater Bay Area, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), well-known international accounting firms such as Ernst & Young and Deloitte, as well as students and faculty from Macau University of Science and Technology. Holding this forum successfully marks a solid step for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Accounting Alliance in promoting the regional development and international cooperation of the accounting discipline. It not only deepens academic exchanges and cooperation in the accounting field in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, but also provides new perspectives and ideas for the development of accounting disciplines in the Greater Bay Area and China. Through this academic exchange platforms, the alliance will further promote innovation and development in accounting disciplines in the Greater Bay Area, contributing to accounting education and practice in the region and globally.

Speech by Prof. Lin Zhijun, current director of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Accounting Alliance and Senior Advisor to the President of the Macau University of Science and Technology

On the morning of November 29, under the chairmanship of Professor Tan Jinsong, the former director of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Accounting Alliance, a grand opening ceremony was held in the Multifunctional Staircase Auditorium on the 7th floor of the Hengqin International Science and Technology Innovation Center. Professor Pang Chuan, Vice President of Macau University of Science and Technology, Professor Lin Zhijun, the current director of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Accounting Alliance and Senior Advisor of Macau University of Science and Technology, and Senior Vice President Lu Ninggui from Zhengbao Education Group delivered enthusiastic speeches. They emphasized the importance of new quality productive forces in high-quality economic development and the key role of accounting disciplines in assessing enterprise value assessment and managing risks in the context of digital technology development. They also looked forward to deepening academic exchanges and cooperation through this forum.

Under the chairmanship of Professor Tan Jinsong, the former director of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Accounting Alliance, and Professor Xiao Zezhong, Professor from Macau University and a permanent member of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Accounting Alliance, four renowned keynote speakers in management, finance, and digital technology delivered brilliant keynote speeches.

Professor He Jia, a chair professor of Shandong University, provided a detailed analysis of the development of China's Internet, emphasized the importance of digital industrialization and industrial digitalization, and discussed the core role of artificial intelligence in the digital economy and its applications in digital intelligence, physical intelligence, biological intelligence, and other fields. Professor He also discussed the current status and potential of industrial Internet platforms and raised several key issues, including learning from the experience of Internet platforms, bolstering the weakness of the manufacturing industry, and integrating finance and industrial Internet. As such, the aim of promoting the innovative development of intelligent manufacturing and digital technology can be attained.

Professor Zhang Xiaodong, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Chinese Management Science Society, focused on the re-thinking and value reconstruction brought about by technological development in the digital era. He emphasized the importance of technological competition and posited that the key to competition and cooperation between countries is digital transformation. He deeply analyzed the new opportunities for the integrated development of digital intelligence and the importance of enterprise value and management reconstruction, proposing strategies to maximize value under new economic models.

Shi Ning, President of Jinling Huikuai Technology Company, deeply explored the bias in asset evaluation in the traditional financial system, especially intangible assets and data assets, and emphasized the key role of data assetization in promoting high-quality economic development in China. Outlining the definition, characteristics, and value process of data assets, and the support of the policy environment for data assetization, he proposed the construction of a sustainable data asset operation system to promote the development of new quality digitalization and new quality productive forces. He also analyzed and predicted the broad application prospects of AI technology and industry for data assets and highlighted new issues in the asset value view in the metaverse.

Tan Jian, a professor from NingboTech University, deeply explored the key role of blockchain technology in enhancing data transparency, ensuring information authenticity, and promoting industrial digital transformation. Starting from the historical practice of "Wu Le Gong Ming," he emphasized the importance of information transparency and responsibility traceability in quality management and proposed a digital "Wu Le Gong Ming" framework using the Internet of Things, digital twin, and blockchain technology to ensure data transparency, consistency, and non-tampering. He also showcased the application cases of keyless signature technology in various fields (i.e., document digitalization, food safety traceability, medical data management, and electronic invoice management), highlighting the value and application prospects of blockchain technology in the digital economy era.

Keynote Speakers Deliver Exciting Presentations

On the afternoon of the 29th, two parallel forums were held for sharing and discussing the shortlisted papers. The sub-forums revolved around six major themes: "Innovation and New Technology Application," "High-Quality Development and Accounting Information Quality," "High-Quality Environmental Development and Disclosure," "Development of New Quality Productive Forces", "Sustainable Development and Institutional Environment," and "Digital Asset Related Issues." Scholars presented their research findings and engaged in in-depth discussions. These discussions covered not only theoretical research in accounting but also practical applications and case studies, providing participants with rich academic resources and practical guidance.

At the conference dinner, Professor You Xianghua from the School of Economics and Management at Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), the Secretary-General of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Accounting Alliance, summarized the forum and looked forward to the future work and development of the alliance.

On November 30th, Professor Lin Zhijun, the current director of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Accounting Alliance and teachers from the School of Business, held a roundtable discussion at Room 512, Building O, Macau University of Science and Technology. This roundtable discussion aimed to share insights and experiences in a lively discussion. The forum concluded successfully under the summary of Professor Lin Zhijun.
